FDC Multifunctional Laboratory

1. Challenge

A Dom Cabral Foundation (FDC) sought to create a multifunctional learning laboratory - a space capable of hosting classes and dynamics from different disciplines within the same physical environment.
The challenge was to design a flexible, technological and collaborative interiors, that expresses the innovative character of the institution and allows it to modular configurations according to class format.
More than aesthetics, the project needed to translate the values of FDC - innovation, exchange and continuous evolution - in a functional and inspiring spatial experience.

2. Solution

In partnership with Etc & Tal Communication agency, Wandenkolken Design has developed a conceptual interior design that balances technology, mobility and educational purpose, creating an environment designed for active and adaptive learning.

  • Spatial configuration and layout: The space was designed to accommodate different teaching arrangements, with modular furniture and light, allowing for rapid movement and the creation of new class compositions - from the expository format to collaborative dynamics.

  • Technological integration: The following were distributed TVs, flipcharts and panels at strategic points, guaranteeing visibility and support to multiple fronts of teaching, presentations and co-creation.

  • Aesthetics and materiality: The proposal prioritized neutral tones, clean lines and functional lighting, The environment is designed to enhance focus, concentration and visual comfort. The environment was conceived as a neutral platform for creativity, where each configuration of space represents a new idea.

  • Central concept: O Lab FDC was designed as a an organism in constant transformation, symbolizing the continuous learning and adaptability that define Fundação Dom Cabral's methodology.

The conceptual result is a space smart, modular and inspiring, designed to evolve along with the institution's educational practices.

Deliverables
  • Complete conceptual interior design (3D layout and ambience)

  • Planning modular and configurable furniture

  • Technology integration guidelines (TVs, panels and flipcharts)

  • Spatial identity aligned with FDC's institutional positioning

Final insight

The design of educational environments needs to keep pace with the fluidity of knowledge.
O Lab FDC, developed in partnership with Etc & Tal Communication, represents a new way of thinking about the teaching space: an environment that learns together with its users, by combining technology, flexibility and purpose to inspire the future of executive education.
